Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I have to pay every month for an app?

There’s a myth out there that goes something like, “If I custom code an app, I can pay once and it will work forever.” What custom development shops won’t tell you though is that even if you custom code an app, there will still be monthly costs for upkeep, server space, maintenance, content changes, and more. With app.net, however, we’ve not only built many of the features you’ll need right out of the box which reduces your upfront cost, but we also handle all of your servers, CDNs, push notification systems, user login/authentication, OS updates, design updates, the ability to change content, and more with one low monthly cost based on the features you need.

If I stop paying does my app get taken off the App Store and Google Play?

No. The app remains in the Store. But, in order for app to maintain an active status with our servers and systems that power it and therefore function properly, you must maintain an active subscription. Failure to maintain an active subscription may block some features in your app. Ex: Push Notifications will not work, CDN may not provide updated content and your application will end up outdated.

Can I host multiple apps under one subscription?

You can publish multiple apps under one project, or you can have multiple projects. Your bill is 100% usage based. No matter how many apps you have, you pay for the server resources your app consumes. A Starter plan may be good enough to power several apps if their resource usage is low. On the opposite site, if your app is highely used by your customers, your bill will go up and you'll want to upgrade your plan.

Can I buy source code only?

Yes, you can buy source code only, GIT Pull your full source code to your local machine or store it on GitHub or BitBucket. It could be a good choice if you plan to maintain yourself all server infrastructure, which could be a lot more costly. But, it is always your choice.

Are there any additional costs besides my subscription plan?

In order to get you app live on the App Store and Google Play, both Apple and Google require that you have your own Apple and Google developer accounts, respectively. To date, Google is a one time fee of $25 and Apple is a yearly fee of $99 for a standard account. If you are a non-profit organization, government entity, or educational institution, you may be eligible to get a free standard account. Find out if you qualify here.

How do I integrate custom plugins?

One of the advantages of app.net is the ability to maintain your source code. Your source code is stored in GIT repositories. With full source code you can do anything. Plug-ins, third party libraries, custom developed code, integration with other projects, SDKs, etc...

Can I publish my app with a free plan?

We do not offer free plans. In order to get your app live on the App Store and Google Play, you will need to sign up for one of our paid plans. You can upgrade or downgrade plans anytime.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Our subscriptions are month-to-month. You can cancel anytime. There are no refunds if you cancel in the middle of your billing cycle. Please note, however, if you cancel your service, your app will no longer function properly, because your app will be denied access to our server resources.

What happens when I hit the plan limit max number of storage, push notifications, bandwith, etc. under my plan?

If you’re hitting your limits, that means you’re doing something right. We make it easy for you to be successful. If you do hit your max numbers, instead of halting your service, you will simply be charged for any extra your app uses. Your bill will reflect all extra charges and you will decide if it's worth upgrading your plan to next level. Just like with minutes and text messages on your mobile phone. Extra minutes used during the month means it makes sense upgrading your plan next month.

Do you guarantee my app will be accepted on Apple App Store or Google Play Store?

Yes. We guarantee your app will be accepted. If it gets rejected, we will work with you and with store review team to get you approved. We considered all aspects of review process and we worked closely with Apple's Review Team when we designed this plarform. It may require additional work and effort on both, your side and ours, but your apps will be approved, guaranteed !!!
