Why do you need the books of Acts from the New Testament. The book of Acts or the Acts of the Apostles is about the history of the first church after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Written by Luke, he revealed the struggles, persecutions as well as the glory and power experienced by the Apostles of Jesus Christ and all the believers through the baptism of the Holy Spirit:“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” (Acts 2:1-4).In the book of Acts, you can see how the powerful works of Christ continued to the Apostles such as Peter healed the lame man at the temple (Acts 3:7-11); Ananias and Sapphira were slain when they lied to the Holy Spirit (5:5-10); the prison doors opened by an angel (5:19); and many more signs and wonders done by the Apostles. “And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles” (Acts 2:43) Also recorded in the book of Acts is the famous story of Saul’s conversion into Paul. Once a persecutor and murderer of Christians, Saul (now Paul) witnessed the grace, mercy, and love of God through Jesus Christ which radically changed his life forever. And Apostle Paul’s teachings and preaching, thus began after his encounter with resurrected Christ in a vision. This is also the mark of the beginning of grace period when salvation has been extended to the Gentiles. And the Apostle Paul was used greatly and powerfully by God in this mission. The book of Acts ended with the Apostle Paul preaching in Rome and spreading the Good News of Christ in the country for two years. And in that span of year, no one tried to stop him from preaching the message about Christ (Acts 28:31).
