My name is Paul. I am a trumpet player with over 35 years playing experience and am excited to start teaching eager, motivated, hard-working students. I have played in a variety of ensembles over the years from high-school, to college and beyond. But more importantly, I have had many trumpet teachers - some good and some bad. I know what a difference a good trumpet instructor can make. And I know how to be a good instructor.
I exclusively taught my daughter Julia from 4th grade through 12th.
As she goes off to college, she leaves behind a stellar high-school career, having been selected to perform in no less than 17 different honor bands, including 2 times to PMEA state band, 1 time to PMEA state orchestra, 3 times to PMEA District 1 honors band and 4 times to PMEA District 1 jazz band. She has placed first chair in a number of these ensembles.
Music is not my main career. I teach because I love it and want to help young trumpet players, especially those trumpet players whose parents find it difficult to accept a typical trumpet instructor's fee of $20-$30 per half hour. I charge a low rate, but in return, I expect my students to practice and be prepared for lessons. I also expect them to audition for honors ensembles.
I have room for 3 students at present. My rate is $10/half-hour. All lessons take place in my Plum home. As a band parent, I have all PA state clearances. Please reply to this post if you would like more information.
